what can anger do?
Surprisingly, little research exists on effects of anger in a community/group. So far, recent scholarship has noted that judgment becomes impaired when we become angry. Moreover, we are more likely to become biased towards their own opinion. Moreover, it is known that in general, group cohesion weakens significantly due to negative emotions (not necessarily anger).
Specific research needs to be conducted to learn about effects of negative emotions in certain groups. From current results, I can only extrapolate the long term effects of hostility and anger shown among Christians during the KQCF. I speculate that it may end up being a dividing force between members of the congregation. Polarization will occur; devoted members will firmly advocate evils of homosexuality, while people who support tolerance will become more active in promoting their beliefs. Both groups will be strongly adhered to their own beliefs, leaving little room for compromise or conversation.
